The part of HRT nobody prepares you for

Free guide: The HRT Review Pack - the 7 questions that turn a 10-minute GP appointment into a plan, plus a one-page summary to hand over.

WHAT THE RESEARCH ACTUALLY SAYS

A systematic review of 32,213 women found that 51.3% discontinue HRT, and 62.4% stop abruptly rather than tapering. The reasons given were a healthcare professional's recommendation (31.2%), fear of risks (26.0%), and a preference for a natural approach (25.6%) - not intolerable side effects. Route of administration matters too: oral and transdermal HRT show different adherence patterns. And over 40% of women experience symptom resurgence after stopping. None of this means the treatment failed. It means the timeline was never explained.
